Escape Room Music

Uncovering clues, together with friends, in an interactive game where the room responds to your every move. All in an effort to beat the clock and escape as soon as possible.

In all of this, escape room music can do so much more than just setting the mood. Done right, it can help make the experience even more immersive.

You know James Bond is running out of time if the orchestra starts speeding up. If low notes start playing when the hero enters a room, danger might be lurking under the bed. Using layers, the music in your escape room can react to your players in a similar way.

Creating Layered Music

When watching a film, the timing of events is always the same. For escape rooms (and video games for that matter) this is a bit different. Your players might uncover the first clue in a few seconds or a few minutes. We can fix this by not having the music react to the players at all, or work with music in layers to make music adapt to the experience.

Because an example makes this way easier to explain, I have prepared one for you. Click the link to go to the Interactive Music Example

There are a lot of options to active different layers. It could be done manually, but also triggered by an event already present in the escape room. Depending on your sound system, having certain melodies only play from certain directions is also a possibility.

Of course all of this is just one example, and will vary heavily based on your specific rooms. The theme of the room, the difficulty, the length and the amount of sections all impact the score, the layers and the structure. Do not hesitate to contact me and discuss the possibilities for your specific escape room.

Endless Possibilities

The beauty of working with layers and making music interactive is having an endless amount of possibilities. The downside is that it is impossible to give an indication of the hours it will take to make this score.

That is why I would like to talk about your escape room and the possibilities for escape room music! Feel free to send me a message with questions or to plan an online meeting to discuss your escape room.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
